Haydee Coloso-Espino, born in Dueñas, Iloilo in 1937, was a celebrated Filipino swimmer known as the “Swim Queen of Asia.” She began swimming competitively at age 13 and became a national champion from 1951 to 1953. At the 1954 Asian Games, she won two gold medals and set a new record, later earning more medals at the 1958 Tokyo Asiad and the 1962 Jakarta Asiad.
