The Lakbayon Project, founded in 2001 by Zenaida in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, is a women-led volunteer initiative focused on coastal cleanup and environmental conservation. It operates in Barangays 2, 4, and 5, engaging single mothers, students, senior citizens, and fisherfolk families to maintain clean beaches while promoting ecological solid waste management. The project has transformed Poblacion Beach into a thriving tourist destination, supporting local incomes, generating employment, and contributing to the city’s economic growth. SS PANAY SHIPWRECK BELL OF SIPALAY

The SS Panay Shipwreck Bell was recovered in 1998 from the wreck of the SS Panay, which sank in 1941 during World War II near Sipalay City. The bell, made of metal and measuring 80 cm tall, still shows its original gold-copper color and features an engraved cross with floral designs. It served as an important signaling device on the ship, which was delivering ammunition to Filipino guerrillas when it was torpedoed by Japanese forces.
