The Laura Vicuña Women Development and Training Center (LVWDTC) in Hacienda Malihao, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, was established in 1999 to empower women and youth, especially those from marginalized communities, through skills training and education. The center, inspired by Blessed Laura Vicuña, offers technical-vocational programs such as Bookkeeping, Hotel and Restaurant Services, Garment Technology, and other dual training opportunities to improve employability and economic independence. Over the years, LVWDTC has gained national and international recognition for its programs against child labor, including awards from Winrock International and participation in UN sessions. Despite challenges like limited funding, staff training needs, and external economic pressures, the institution continues to provide vocational training, community outreach, and social advocacy initiatives. LVWDTC safeguards its beneficiaries through strict staff screening, secure facilities, regular training on protection measures, and partnerships with local authorities to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
