The Sugar Regulatory Administration–La Granja Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SRA-LGAREC) in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, serves as a government research institution supporting the country’s sugarcane industry. Established under the SRA’s mandate, the center focuses on developing high-yield sugarcane varieties, improving farming technologies, and providing training programs for farmers and agricultural students. It has achieved significant milestones, including the large-scale distribution of high-yielding sugarcane varieties, the opening of a new research laboratory, and the provision of modern farm equipment to improve productivity. Despite challenges such as limited funding, outdated facilities, and difficulties in retaining skilled professionals, the center continues to strengthen partnerships with universities, government agencies, and private stakeholders.
