Hacienda Crafts Company, based in Hacienda Rosalia, Manapla, Negros Occidental, is a community-based cultural enterprise founded in 1994 to preserve traditional craftsmanship while supporting sustainable livelihoods. It emerged in response to the 1980s sugar industry crisis, providing alternative income opportunities for local families through handmade crafts using indigenous materials like abaca, rattan, and bamboo. The company produces a range of home décor and furniture items that blend traditional designs with modern aesthetics, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of hacienda communities. About 90% of its artisans are women who work from home, allowing them to balance family life with earning income. Despite challenges such as market competition, modernization, and limited access to raw materials, Hacienda Crafts continues to thrive through collaborations, skills training, and eco-friendly practices.
