Juan Castillo Obaga, born on November 11, 1911, was a local politician in Butuan, Anini-y, Antique, instrumental in the creation of the Municipality of Anini-y. He sought the separation of Anini-y from Dao, traveling to Manila to lobby support from key political figures.. Executive Order No. 253 was signed by then President Elpidio Quirino on August 5, 1949, officially recognizing Anini-y as a separate municipality, and Obaga became its first Municipal Mayor. His tenure saw tax collection campaigns and infrastructure development of the town. He died on November 7, 1955, leaving behind a legacy remembered by many for his role in securing the town’s political autonomy.
