Balay Turun-an or School of Living Traditions in Barangay Panuran, Lambunao, Iloilo, built in 2016 to preserve the culture of the Indigenous Peoples community. It teaches traditional arts, crafts, music, poetry, rituals, and other cultural knowledge to young people to keep their heritage alive. The school was started through community efforts and support from local leaders, including Rex Castigador, with help from the Department of Education. Despite challenges like building decay and a lack of high school teachers, the school continues to offer cultural education and plans to expand due to growing enrollment. To protect its future, the school is working on repairs, recruiting staff, raising funds, and running cultural programs with the help of local groups and partners.
