Madalag Elementary School, located in Poblacion, Madalag, Aklan, was established on January 1, 1934, and has been dedicated to providing quality education under the Department of Education. The school has a rich history, having operated before World War II and resumed classes after the war, continuously producing successful graduates who contribute locally and abroad. At present, the school caters to Kindergarten to Grade Six learners from nearby barangays, within its 20,137 sq. m. campus. Dr. Artemio Castro Nabor, born in Madalag, Aklan in 1900, was a teacher, optometrist, journalist, and public servant known for his strong advocacy for Aklan’s history and identity. He studied optometry in Manila while working and later became an editor of several publications, including Ro Akeanon, which promoted the separation of Aklan from Capiz. In 1936, he served as Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Labor and helped develop the Eight-Hour Labor Law.
