Northern Iloilo State University (NISU), formerly Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (NIPSC), is a public state university located in Estancia, Iloilo, with seven campuses across the 5th district of Iloilo. It offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and vocational programs, especially in agriculture, fisheries, engineering, and technology, aiming to provide quality education, research, and community service. The institution evolved from the Western Visayas College of Fisheries, established in 1952, and became a university in 2022 through Republic Act 10597. NISU plays a key role in regional development by producing skilled graduates who contribute to local industries and community growth. It has faced challenges such as damage from Typhoon Yolanda and increased demand after becoming a university, causing classroom and faculty shortages.
