Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) was established in 1957 as the former Barotac Nuevo High School. It became the Iloilo State College of Fisheries in 1978, and later elevated as a university in 2023. The institution promotes collaborative scientific, technological, and research initiatives with local and international organizations specifically on fishery-related research and scientific findings. It is mandated to provide advanced education in fisheries technology and related fields, support national development, and conduct research and extension services. The university offers programs such as Bachelor of Science in Fishery Education, Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation, Bachelor of Science in Ecological Tourism, among a few.
