The HQ 603rd (Capiz) Community Defense Center, located in Brgy. Timpas, Panitan, Capiz, occupies a 50-hectare land donated in 1936 by Antonio and Candida Belo to serve as a training area for the Philippine Army. The camp has undergone several name changes, finally becoming the 603rd (Capiz) Community Defense Center under the 6th Regional Community Defense Group in 1986. It trains and supervises ROTC units across the province, including major schools in Roxas City and campuses of Capiz State University. Timpas Lake is a 3.5-hectare freshwater lake located in Barangay Timpas, Panitan, Capiz, and is privately owned by the Belo family. It is home to culturally significant fish like climbing perch (puyo) and catfish (pantat), and is surrounded by lush vegetation, including water lilies and various fruit trees. The lake is known not just for its beauty but also for local folklore, including stories of a singing mermaid, giant carp, and mysterious sightings.
