Charito R. Villar, born on July 4, 1946, in Dao, Capiz, is a respected local writer, educator, and community leader. She graduated cum laude with a degree in Elementary Education from the University of San Agustin and taught for 45 years in various schools around Dao. She led the Girls Scout Association and organized events that raised funds to improve school facilities. Besides teaching, she was also a skilled public speaker and local historian who helped preserve Dao’s culture and history. After retiring from education, she served as the municipal government’s Sangguniang Bayan Secretary for three years.

The 1836 bell of St. Tomas de Villanueva Parish Church in Dao is the oldest bell in the area, made for communication and religious purposes. The Dao tree, also known as Pacific Walnut, is a native perennial tree found in some barangays of Dao, Capiz, and can grow up to 45 meters tall with wide, strong trunks. It has small white-green flowers, edible fruits, and large green leaves, with older generations using its parts for food, medicine, furniture, and soil protection.
