Rodolfo Baldoza Hechanova served as a commanding officer in the 552nd Engineer Construction/Combat Battalion of the Philippine Army, completing many infrastructure projects ahead of schedule in Negros and Capiz provinces. He led the rebuilding of school buildings in Alimodian and Leon, which were damaged by rebel attacks, helping restore education in those communities. Hechanova received numerous military awards recognizing his service and leadership throughout his career. Before his command roles, he was an ROTC instructor at Iloilo Normal School and later held various leadership and managerial positions, including in Iloilo City’s local government and electric cooperative. His work in rebuilding classrooms shows the military’s role not just in security but also in helping communities recover from conflict. By restoring schools, Hechanova positively affected many students and families, promoting stability and growth in conflict-affected areas.
