Laba-laba is the collective local name for the three species of edible seaweeds from the Caulerpa genus. These can be found in the coastal waters of Sapian and these have historical significance to these communities along the area. They are a staple in the local diet and are known for their medicinal properties. They also serve as a source of income, particularly in the summer months. Locals employ sustainable harvesting methods to ensure the seaweeds' regrowth, supporting long-term environmental and economic stability. Their historical, aesthetic, social, and socioeconomic significance is deeply intertwined with the community's cultural practices and spiritual connection to the sea.
