San Juan de Nepomuceno Parish Church in Anini-y, Antique is a Spanish-era coral stone church built between 1879 and 1898 by Augustinian friars and is the only one of its kind preserved in the province. It features baroque architecture with coral stone walls, a three-level bell tower, and a wide lawn, and was fully restored in 2017 by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. The church’s first version was built in the early 1600s, and the current structure was finalized in the late 1800s, having gone through war, natural disasters, and changes in administration. Inside, it still holds original stone flooring, a choir loft, and a retablo, with some parts reconstructed based on old photographs. The church is historically and spiritually important to the local community and has hosted many major religious and civic events. Conservation efforts include yearly inspections, cleaning, repairs, and protection from pests and plant overgrowth.
