CAPTAIN PAULINO S. SALMON

Captain Paulino S. Salmon was a brave Filipino soldier and leader who played a key role in World War II, especially in liberating San Miguel, Iloilo, from Japanese forces. He led guerrilla fighters in major battles, including the tough assault on Pamul-ogan Hill, showing great courage and leadership under pressure. After the war, Salmon continued serving his hometown as Mayor of San Miguel, with two terms from 1952–1956 and 1971–1979. During his time as mayor, he pushed for local development, including building a new municipal hall, basketball court, and barangay facilities. He was known not just for his bravery in war but also for his commitment to improving the lives of his fellow citizens. Captain Salmon remains a respected figure in San Miguel’s history, remembered for his honor, strength, and service.
