The Balaan Bukid Shrine in Jordan, Guimaras was constructed in 1954 as a gesture of gratitude for protection during World War II. The shrine, which includes a chapel and a giant cross, stands atop a high point called Bondolan Point and has been attracting thousands of visitors and pilgrims, especially during Holy Week. It features 14 Stations of the Cross, a simple chapel with a retablo, and several grottoes, including one for Our Lady of Lourdes. The shrine’s exterior is decorated with intricate concrete designs, with a large cross standing nearby, offering a panoramic view of Iloilo and Guimaras. It was funded by the Ledesma family and built with the support of local and religious figures. With some repairs and the installation of safety features, the shrine is in fair condition, alongside maintenance efforts supported by both the local government and church donations.
