The Sitio Buyuan-Baras Coffee Growers Association (SBBCGA) is a local agricultural organization based in Brgy. Tigbanaba, Igbaras, Iloilo, focused on coffee cultivation, processing, and distribution to enhance local farmers’ incomes. Originating in the 1970s with the introduction of robusta coffee, the association was formally organized in 2016, however, due to a lack of proper training and support, coffee production dwindled for a few years. But saw a revival in interest during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the rising popularity of coffee shops. With support from local government units and various agencies, members have received training in coffee production techniques, leading to improved quality and recognition at competitions like the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition in 2021. Despite facing challenges such as financial constraints, climate change, pest issues, and transportation difficulties due to limited infrastructure and farm-to-market road issues, The Sitio Buyua-an Baras Coffee Growers Association continues to adapt and enhance its practices, receiving support for equipment and training to further develop their coffee production and contribute to the local and regional coffee industry.
