A series of events were held by the Panay Bukidnon community in Barangay Garangan, Calinog, in collaboration with the National Commission of Culture and the Arts (NCCA), to commemorate the death and legacy of the Manlilikha ng Bayan and Suguidanon chanter Federico “Tuohan” Caballero last September 1-2, 2024.

In the morning of 1 September 2024, Panay Bukidnon funerary rites were conducted. This included daraw (visitation), haya (lamentation), pangasi (rice wine) making, and paghanduraw (eulogy), during which Dr. Alicia Magos spoke briefly about MB Federico Caballero’s efforts to the cultural preservation of the traditions and practices of Panay Bukidnon.

In the evening, they conducted the pangasi drinking, pamalasan, ambahan, binanog dancing, bilasyon, and was then capped off by the chanting of Sugidanon that ended around midnight of September 2.

On the following day, 3 September 2024, Caballero’s remains were brought from Barangay Garangan to the public plaza of Calinog where a program was held to celebrate and remember MB Federico Caballero as a father, brother, and GAMABA awardee. By 12 noon, his remains were returned to Barangay Garangan where he was buried in his mausoleum.
