Pres. Emily Arangote of Aklan State University welcomed the representatives from UP Visayas and the Tourism Officers of Aklan Province in an inception meeting for Cultural Mapping of Aklan Province.
The Cultural Mapping of Aklan is an undertaking which will be implemented under the Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras (CMPG). The CMPG project which was initiated by the Office of Sen. Loren Legarda will commence work in Aklan by November of this year. Trainings will be conducted with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts on the early part of 2024.
A Memorandum of Agreement for the Cultural Mapping of Aklan will soon be signed between ASU, UP Visayas, and the Province of Aklan. The ASU team will be headed by Dr. Carolyn Salazar. The team will be working closely with UP Visayas and the LGUs of Aklan through the tourism officers.
