
Together with its partner state university and college Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), the University of the Philippines Visayas Cultural Mapping Team organized a three-day community validation for the cultural mapping of the fourth and fifth districts of Iloilo (Carles, Estancia, Balasan, Conception, Sara, San Dionisio, Batad, Ajuy, Lemery, San Rafael, Passi City, Dueรฑas, Barotac Nuevo, Dumangas, Anilao, Banate, and Dingle) on 11-13 November 2024 at the UPV Little Theater.

Representatives from the Department of Tourism Region 6 (DOT R6) and external validators from the two districts mentioned were invited to the event to assess and validate the cultural heritage assets mapped in their communities. Validators included were Eddie D. Barrientos, Jimmy Palmaira, Ginalen Ruth Loy, Honey Lou B. Talidano, Shyne Camille Gesto, Zeidrick Cudilla, Chantelle Marie Santillan, Jenlo De la Cruz, Lhoriebeth Esperida, Nover Batallones, Zaina Mae Baldoza-Barreto, Jeneve Yu, Rogelio Maulion Jr., Rissane A. Prudente, Jeff Albania, Nove Bibanco, John Bryanne Delawis, Erving Labid, Cynthia P. Sotacio, Mary Iasa Alonzaga, Andrea June Porente, Claire Villaruel, Romina Capalla, Art John Caliste, Kathryn Del Rosario, Prince Norbert Diaz, Emerson Franco, Clarence May Jarce, Artemis Biรฑas, Renerose B. Caborubias, Dolores B. Batayola , Novem Faith A. Sazon, Dane C. Dizon, Janette P. Dairo, Roderick Ticar, Mary Rose Fenita, and John Paul Defiรฑo.
The Cultural Mapping of Panay, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental is a priority project of the Office of Senator Loren Legarda in connection with RA 11961, also known as the Cultural Mapping Law.
