A community validation for the cultural mapping of several municipalities from the first and second districts of Iloilo (Alimodian, Igbaras, Leon, Miagao, Pavia, Tigbauan, and Tubungan) was led by the University of the Philippines Visayas Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras Team (UPV CMPG), together with its partner state university and college, Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) on 7-8 November 2024 at the UPV Little Theater.
External validators participating in the event included representatives from the Department of Tourism Region 6 (DOT R6) and the local government units of the first and second districts of Iloilo. They were Mary Diane N. Flordeliza, Roy Sollesta, Ron Joshua Florece, Ma. Kathrina R. Ebalan, Josep Peter Erazo, Mary Ellaine Puno, Vicente Gargaritano, Jr., Marlyn Tagudar, Darwin Tadifa, Mark John T. Torda, Christine Joy P. Bataga, Buenavel A. Ermita, Merry Joy B. Ambid, Earl John C. Aquidado, Annaliza Camago, Mart Lawrence Calico, Winn Rose Caman, Dexter G. Dizon, Mabel E. Paches, Enp, Ramy P. Madero, John Christian Frajillo, Maria Karen G. Felicio, and Gilbert Marin.
The two-day event is a crucial step prior to the completion of the cultural mapping project for community members or their representatives to assess and validate the cultural heritage assets mapped in their community.
The CMPG is a priority project of the Office of Senator Loren Legarda under the Cultural Mapping Law.
