Following a series of mapping activities carried out in the Province of Guimaras, accomplished outputs from Guimaras State University (GSU) underwent community validation spearheaded by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Cultural Mapping Team on 15 November 2024 at the UPV-GCEB Training Room, Iloilo City.
Community members and representatives of the municipalities of Buenavista, Jordan, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, and Sibunag attended the event as external validators who assessed and validated the cultural heritage assets mapped in their communities. Participants included Mark D. Delotindo, Lorena G. Amigable, Hon. Jomel E. Galvez, Marilou M. Nieles, Julina Segovia, Mikee Esmeralda, Aljun Margallo, Jessie Gamlanga, Alma Mizhele Herrera, Japsy Magada, Ariston Galon, Jennifer Soque, April Rose Talaban, Aldin Moreno, Jennifer Joy J. Querubin, Neil P. Catalan, Agustin L. Zaragoza, Gualberto G. Galia, and Nolinda G. Ronzales.
The CMPG is a priority cultural project of Senator Loren Legarda involving the UPV, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region VI, Department of Education (DepEd) Region VI, and of local government units (LGUs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs) in Panay, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.
